Abstract

The vital environmental problematic situation in Dehradun city is improper municipal solid waste management. The inappropriate management of municipal solid waste management in environmental pollutions and affects both the surroundings and water bodies. The studies told that about 65% of municipal solid waste is put in open areas and landfills. The study of municipal solid waste management for Dehradun City was completed to rate the present status and study the significant issues at the river side areas. Each method has been critically examined and also reviewed their advantages and drawbacks to determine the soil index and vegetation index of polluted riversides. The study is favorable for future research, and it also gives a concept of analyzing present MSWM specific situations. This study introduces a remote sensing approach to using freely available Sentinel-2 satellite Indicators i.e. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), Normalized difference water index (NDWI) and True Color Images (TCI) geospatial data to appraise the impact of dumpsites in the riverside environment from song river, Dehradun.
