Abstract

A location-based social network (LBSN) is a kind of social media that allows users to broadcast their geographical location and other information with their friends by using GPS-enabled smartphones. Millions of check-in records are created all over the world, which can provide essential information about places visited by users and their traveling experiences through tag information. This information can be useful in suggesting travel routes to users to facilitate trip planning. This paper deals with recommending travel routes as per user preferences. Here, user specifies his preferences via keywords. Earlier route recommendation frameworks have some limitations which are mentioned in this paper. The proposed system applies Dijkstra’s algorithm and Haversine algorithm on user travel database to suggest a trip plan as per user preferences.
