The Tendency of Non-Alcoholic Beverages’ Consumption among the Students from the Universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Abstract

The hot and humid climate and diverse dining culture with the rapid development of eating out services have rapidly increased the demand for beverages in Vietnam for years. Vietnamese population is young, more than 62.2% between the age of 15-54, in which the age 15-40 is rated to have the highest demand for beverages. Researches have shown that students' group has a very high rate in the consumption of teas and juices (teas: 46.66%, juices: 36.36%). Fresh milk, carbonated beverages, purified water are selected by students quite a lot (fresh milk: 35.84%, carbonated beverages: 35.81%, purified water: 31.74%). There are gender differences in choosing the types of beverages. Females use fresh milk, juice and drinking yogurt more than males; Meanwhile, males tend to choose energy drink, tea and sports drink more than females.
