The Effect of Work Family Conflict and Workload on The Performance of Female Nurses with Work Stress and Emotional Exhaustion as an Intervening Variables on Female Nurses

Abstract

This study aimsto determine the effect of work family conflict and workload on the performance of female nurses
with work stress and emotional exhaustion as intervening variables in female nurses at RS Dr. TadjuddinChalid
Makassar. This type of research is analytic observational with cross sectional design. The sample in this study
were 96 female nurses who were married and the sample was taken using simple random sampling method. Data
were taken from respondents using a work family conflict questionnaire, workload, work stress, emotional
exhaustion and performance. The data analysis technique in this study used SPSS and SmartPLS. The results of
this study indicate that there is an influence between work family conflict with work stress with a value of p
(0.000) <(0.05), work family conflict with emotional exhaustion with a value of p (0.000) <(0.05), emotional
exhaustion with performance with p value (0.005) <(0.05), workload and performance with p value (0.000), while
the results of this study did not find any influence between workload and emotional fatigue with p value (0.165)>
(0.05), workload with work stress p (0.088)> (0.05), work stress with performance with p value (0.150)> (0.05)
and work family conflict with performance p (0.261)> (0.05). This study concludes that there is no direct effect of
work family conflict on the performance of female nurses while the workload has a direct effect on the
performance of female nurses, then there is also no indirect effect of work family conflict on the performance of
nurses through work stress as an intervening variable, but in this study It was found that there was an indirect
effect of work family conflict on performance through emotional exhaustion as an intervening variable, then there
was also no indirect effect of workload on nurses 'performance through work stress and there was no indirect
effect of workload on nurses' performance through emotional exhaustion as an intervening variable.
