Abstract

The paper belongs to  emerging field of communication that can cover a wide range of frequencies. The proposed antenna in this paper is designed to resonate at Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX) frequencies. WiMAX communication is the major requirement in modern days.  An antenna which resonates at WiMAX frequency is given by designing a Defected Ground Structure (DGS)  based monople antenna. The designed antenna has a patch with a circular ring with two arms at the center. The patch with a circular ring gives two resonating frequencies. The center two arms give the third resonating frequency. The ground is a cambered ground plane with a square slot. The antenna is designed in High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). Values of impedance obtained is close to 50Ω, enhanced bandwidths are obtained. Later the antenna is manufactured and tested on Vector Network Analyzer (VNA).It is observed that the manufactured antenna behaves similar to the simulated antenna. Also the radiation patterns of the antenna were seen in the Anaechoic chamber.
