Health Care Robots for Elderly People at Home: Past, Present and the Future

Abstract

Health care robots are the need of today. Working people have to move away from home due to their profession so their parents remain unattended. These robots can be helpful in taking care of elderly people at home. These Robots can be used to assist in case of medical emergency. For example after the outbreak of Corona COVID 19 pandemic these health care robots can be used to assist the patients. In this paper development in the field of health care robotics is reviewed. The timeline of health care robots is divided into three aspects such as its past, present and its possible future. The factors responsible for the need for the creation of health care robots, development of these robots starting from the first few robots to the presently available ones are discussed. New developments as well as the future robots that are yet to be created are also outlined. This paper is divided into four sections. In first sections the need for such robots is discussed. In section two existing robots are discussed in detail. Section three discusses the use of robots in present scenario as socially assistive robots and use of robots to fight a battle against corona virus. In The fourth section upcoming future development required is discussed.
