Phet Software-Assisted Learning Media for Ship Electrical System Courses in Poltekpel Surabaya
Abstract
Given that Phet is an interactive simulation software based on virtual laboratories, it is used as a practicum shutter in this study. By using the simulation software, testing activities that are previously impossible due to the limitations of tools and materials or lack of time may now be easily conducted. As a result, cadets can perform experiments according to learning targets. These inter-active software tools can accommodate the creativity of individual cadets. Thus, their critical cognitive skills in solving problems can be further developed and used in different subjects under ship electrical system courses. Given the complexity of different learning processes encountered in ship electrical system materials, the computer-based training learning media assisted by Phet software is explored. This study aims to widen the understanding of cadets and help them master the materials taught and provided for them. In addition, this study aims to increase the motivation of cadets during the teaching and learning processes to help them achieve learning objectives with maximum results. In sum, Phet software can support the learning of cadets through the application of knowledge or concepts they have obtained on real objects.
