Abstract

Shrimp has become an important fishery commodity in Indonesia. One type of shrimp that is widely cultivated in Indonesia is vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Mesjid Raya District is a producer of vannamei shrimp production in Aceh Besar regency, Aceh Province. The purpose of this study was to analyze the price risk that occurred and how much the level of price risk in the commodity vannamei shrimp in Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar regency. The results of the study indicate that the price risk of vannamei shrimp at the current period is influenced by the price risk of the previous period of vannamei shrimp. The results of the estimation of vannamei shrimp price variance equation show that the volatility parameters and vannamei shrimp price variants in the previous period were positive and significant at a five percent real level, with a parameter value of 0.686426 and a probability value of 0.4133. This shows that the variance and price volatility of the previous period's vannamei shrimps is one of the factors that influence the selling price risk of the next period's vannamei shrimp. This means that the increased risk of vannamei shrimp selling price in the previous period will increase the risk of selling vannamei shrimp in the next period. Based on the calculation of VaR (Value at Risk) in percent, the result shows that the risk of vannamei shrimp prices is 7,140% within a period of 1 month. Where the level of price risk of 7,140% is high and is the impact of the number of losses incurred by farmers during one-month period.
