Abstract

In this paper, the design of dual circular polarized X-band Patch Array Antenna is presented that is used for LEO-Satellite Data transmission applications. The proposed design consists of 16 antenna elements and 16 branch line couplers arranged in 4X4 array fashion, dualistic feed networks which are rotated by  and  sequentially. Branch Line Coupler (BLC) arms are fed to the two feed lines of patches which are placed orthogonal so as to generate Left hand and Right hand Circular Polarizations (LHCP/RHCP) simultaneously. Simulated results obtained shows better Return Loss of 14.8dB and 14.7dB, isolation of better than 20 dB, utmost gain of 18dB and 17.45dB at center frequency for LHCP and RHCP ports respectively. In addition, level of cross polarization is better than 20dB, 3dB Axial Ratio Bandwidth is 1GHz(7.5-8.5GHz) and 1.4GHz(7.6-9GHz).
