Abstract

Security in Industrial Automation and Control Systems is major concern as many of these devices are present in remote location. Legacy IACS products has dedicated link for the communication between intelligent devices such as remote terminal units, programmable logic controllers and IED’s. But today’s system demands High availability, controllability, and maintainability among various Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED’s). As security is dynamically changing and we need consistent mechanism to monitor activities. In this work we are providing a monitoring mechanism where we are monitoring both system and network activities to identify the attacks. The project mainly focused on Distributed Network Protocol Version 3 (DNP3) which is a non-proprietary protocol used between communicating devices. The project focused on adaptive mechanism for classification of attacks and for that purpose machine learning techniques has been used. The semi-supervised algorithm gives 88.63% accuracy in identification of attacks by analyzing various parameters.
