Abstract

The objectives of the current study were to assess the internal consistency, convergent and discriminant validity and item analysis of the Intrapreneurial Self-Capital Scale (ISCS) in Malaysia context. The study was conducted among 330 university students in Sabah, Malaysia. Cronbach alphas and correlation coefficients among ISCS domain scores and correlation coefficients between ISCS domain scores and dimensions scores of Career Adaptability Scale were calculated to assess ISCS internal consistency, convergent and discriminant validity. Item analysis was also conducted to test the suitability and gaugeable of the ISCS items in Malaysia context. The scale demonstrated quite low to adequate internal consistency (Cronbach alpha ranged from 0.52to 0.78). The result of Item analysis indicated four items need to be improved to increase the reliability of the instrument. The result reported convergent validity problem on three dimensions of ISCS: the dimension of core self-evaluation, decisiveness and sub-dimension of challenges. However, ISCS discriminant validity was confirmed with the strong relationship among the ISCS dimensions as compared to moderate correlation coefficients between ISCS dimensions and the Career Adaptability Scale domains and the result of factor analysis. The ISCS is reliable and suitable for use to assess individual resources used to manage career and life challenges among university students in Malaysia. However, further research is warranted to explore the convergent validity of this instrument.
