Abstract

The performance management system consists of four main components, the performance appraisal system, learning and development, talent management, and succession planning. The deficits in traditional performance management systems forced the managers to think about new ways of employee engagement for improving operational efficiency in organizations. Nowadays, `gamification – a method of applying game mechanics into non-game contexts like using the website, team works, team building, and simulation of new management systems applied to improve the operational efficiencyto efficiently engage the employees at the workplace. The gamification being successfully applied to several functional areas of the organization in general and performance management systems in particular. The authors discuss an outcome of the application gamification techniques like team building, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and behavioral change gamification techniques concerning to the Information TechnologySector around Hyderabad.  Before gamification the resource pooling was done based on dividing the workforce into their interested areas of work. The outcome of this study was enhanced employee engagement, operational efficiency, saving of resources, and minimal or no slack time of employees.
