Academic Freedom For Faculty Members In Private Jordanian Universities

Abstract

The study examine academic freedom for faculty members in private Jordanian universities. Careful evaluation of literature that relate were done, pieces of information were gathered from 400 respondents from students and lecturers of various private universities in Jordan. By making use of organized questionnaires, data were gathered and analysis were carried out on it using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) Version 21. Hypothesis was tested using Chi square test. The outcome from this analysis showed that df =2, p-value =0.484. It was concluded that the faculty members have knowledge of academic freedom. Based on the observations of this study, it recommended that the notion of academics freedom in private universities must be clearly and explicitly stated and appropriate measures to checkmate it be made. Faculty members should be supported in finance and morals and give them the right scenario for teaching and educational advancement and exploration.
