A Review on the Material Property Estimation and Bending Analysis of Functionally Graded Sandwich Plates
Abstract
This paper describes Functionally graded material (FGM) along with its use in sandwich plates. Various advantages of sandwich plates is presented here. Further a brief detail of history of use of FGM is given. Various rules has been developed over the years to quantify the material property of FGM. These rule are discussed and the governing equations of every rule is presented. In a sandwich plate there is a change of material property at the boundaries of layers, also there is a variation of material property in the microstructure so accurate determination of stresses becomes very important. To serve this purpose a large number of theories has been developed for analysis. Last section present theories that are being used for analysis.
