Advances and Challenges in the IOT Routing Protocols: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract
In times to come, internet will discover its applicability in everything and for utilizing prospective benefits of the so called IOT model objects will be provided with adequate acting, processing and sensing competence. In IOT, routing is considered as an imperative communication tool for the purpose of transferring data between base station and sensed nodes. This article presents an inclusive review of the IOT routing protocols. In order to accomplish the aim, more than 70 research papers from reputed journals are comprehensively reviewed in a sequential manner. Consequently, existing research work is reviewed on the basis of communication model, IOT architecture and IOT utilization in various applications. Further, existing routing protocols are explored and compared to discover the optimum routing. Lastly, foremost exigent areas along with future challenges are presented to provide vital comprehension of IOT routing protocols for the new researchers.
