Comparison of Thermal Comfort Based on Köppen Climate Classification in Churches in Indonesia
Abstract
This research examines thermal comfort in churches in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to determine the standards of thermal comfort in 3 (three) climate types in Indonesia, namely Tropical Rainforest (Af), Tropical Moonson (Am) and Savanna (Aw). Several methods were conducted to detect variables and neutral temperature in every church in Indonesia, some of which were field measurements and simulations. Furthermore, based on the comparison it was discovered that opening is the most determining variable in influencing thermal comfort in church. It was also known that climate differences in each region can influence the peoples’ perception or adaptation inside the church.
