Abstract

The main objective of the research is focused on environmentally friendly and bio-degradable composites decrease the usage of synthetic fiber reinforced composites .Natural fiber reinforced starch based composites are proceed by using hand layup moulding Technique. Natural sisal fiber is selected as reinforcement and starch power is mixed with two different matrix material such as polyester and epoxy resin before using these resins as hosting medium. The tensile load of the prepared composite is predicted by conducting suitable tests and comparative studies are performed on two different composites i.e sisal fiber and starch mixed polypropylene matrix composite and sisal fiber and starch mixed epoxy polymer composite. The influence of weight fraction of sisal fiber at fixed content of starch in the hosting medium and influence of starch content on the fixed sisal fiber weight fraction on the hosting medium are studied in the perspective of tensile load. From the studies, it is found that, starch power is beneficial to use in natural composite to further increase the performance of the respective composite strength.
