Prevalence Of Plaque Indeks And Malocclusion Disorder In Children With Autism In Bandung

Abstract

Research objective :

Decreased prevalence of autism, improving the quality of life autism sufferers, as well as improving the healthy teeth and mouth of autism in West Java.

Background: Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a decline in qualitative values in social interaction and communication, with limited, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests and activities. The etiology of autism has not been thoroughly understood and is thought to be caused by both genetic and environmental factors. 

Methodology : Pseudo experimental studies are a single subject of autism children. Examination of plaque index and oral hygiene status according to plaque index of Sillness and Loe.

Results: The percentage of children with autism consists of 18 boys (78.26%), 5 girls (21.74%) with an age range of 7 to 20 years, and the most is at the age of 16 years by 17.35% . In children with autism has the highest plaque index value of 2.43 ± 0.30, and has a class I malocclusion of 65%.

Conclusion: From bad habits done by children with autism can affect the decline in oral and dental health and cause several abnormalities. So the quality of life of children with autism is not good.
