Abstract

Introduction: Introduction: Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) plays an important role in immune mechanisms and is expressed in different organs of human body. Studies have shown that it is expressed early in inflammation and may serve as a sensitive biomarker for monitoring immune disorders. The normal range for Urine TWEAK (uTWEAK) has not been established for Indian population.

Objectives: To establish a reference value of uTWEAK levels in healthy individuals in adult Indians.

Patients and Methods: uTWEAK levels were estimated in healthy Indian adults using ELISA method.

Results: In 100 healthy adults, median uTWEAK was 56.00 (IQR 40.65, 93.1) pg/mg Cr with a 95% confidence interval of (60.6, 75.7). Conclusion: Urine TWEAK in healthy Indian adults is 56.00 (IQR 40.65, 93.1) pg/mgCr. This reference value may aid in monitoring activity in lupus autoimmune diseases.
