Abstract

E-commerce has come a long way, to be in its present form. It has passed through a roller coaster ride since its evolution in mid-1990 through the dotcom bust in 2000 and further consolidating as profitable business models in 2006. There are many factors for its turbulent journey, but this paper focuses on aspects of online security. Of many perceived risks, online security is a serious risk in e-commerce. This research paper focuses on relatedness of Security risk with other variables in E-commerce. Security, convenience, time saving, privacy, website’s reputation and price were considered as independent variables and perception about ecommerce was taken as dependent variable. Security is examined for its relatedness with each independent variable and with perception of online shopping (dependent variable). The study is based on deep insight of already published research papers between 2004 to 2020, on online security in e-commerce. The study is chronological understanding of e-commerce environment with findings of these published research papers. Findings of each research paper has been discussed highlighting the e-commerce environment during that publication year. T-test is used as a statistical tool at 5% significance level to understand the relationship of different variables. The relationship between security and convenience is rejected, and relationship with all other variables are supported. Going by the results, evidence of decisions and recent trends have been identified.
