Abstract

Cognitive Radio (CR) is an adaptable and reactive radio network technology capable of detecting the nodes available dynamically in a wireless spectrum as well as adjusting transmission parameters, allowing for a more direct communication channel available on the network and enhancing the network operation. Although current strategies are designed to solve particular problems in certain situations, these approaches are not sufficiently versatile or adaptive to ensure protection under complex conditions that are critical for security violations. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive approach to wireless security issues, using the CS definition for wireless communications systems. The proposed approach would ensure robust security by offering flexible security solutions for communications networks, taking advantage of physical layer protection from various viewpoints, for stable and secure communication in the event of an adversary. The adaptivity of radio depends on the fact that its propagation qualities are modified in order to reach secure communication on the basis of different conditions as user number, adaptation of the application and location within the CS definition. Thus, it is proposed that raio will take measures based on these conditions before an attack takes place instead of having some kind of new protection mechanism. Different access scenarios are examined to enable the CS, taking those conditions into account.
