Forays into Types and Methods for Computer Forensics

Abstract

Computer forensics is a branch of forensic science which aims at investigation of evidence found in a digital device in order to solve digital crimes. It can further be divided into several categories such as mobile forensics, network forensics, IoT forensics, memory forensics, etc. This paper provides a brief overview of computer forensics, its categories and the tools available to assist in computer forensics investigations. This paper also discussed challenges involved in computer forensics investigations. Also, the Indian scenario for computer forensics investigation and the legal provisions in India such as Information Technology Act and the Evidence Act are discussed.
