Abstract

Preventing and controlling failures in offshore wind turbines is crucial for reducing operation and maintenance cost. Reliability and life characteristic of components should be accurately measured to avoid any misleading information that could aggravate the costs. This paper presents a methodology to estimate the reliability of wind turbine critical components based on parametric statistical analysis. Weibull mixture distribution was introduced with six parameters to study  life data. two case studies were performed, case from literature for testing and field research case of 7MW offshore wind turbine for validating. Field Data were collected via  high frequency Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Two years .parameters were estimated using maximum likelihood estimate method (MLE).The results showed that mixture distribution reflects the life characteristics correctly of each component under study and gives best predictions in comparison to the two or three parameter distribution.
