Abstract

An instrument has been developed for the assessment of non-invasive measurement of blood flow level using the principle called as impedance plethysmography. In this instrument setup, the 4 electrodes are placed in a linear fashion in either forearm or leg. A small amount of current is allowed to pass through the outer electrodes called as current electrodes with the frequency of 100Hz thereby the oscillation is produced. The inbuilt resistivity of the body will be disturbed due to the current passed through the electrodes. Consequently, the amplification is done to determine the resistivity changes. As a result, the output voltage could be determined where it is mapped with the blood flow volume. It at could be observed that the output voltage is related withthe blood flow volume. The validation of the impedance measurements is done through Fuzzy logic techniques and the LabVIEW techniques which is described in this paper.
