Abstract

Cloud computing is used in web-based development and computing technology. It is basically a virtual pool of resources and it provides these resources to users over the Internet. The problem associated with cloud computing is data privacy, security, and reliability. The most important among them is security and the cloud provider must ensure for the confidentiality of the data storage among its users. In this research study a new methodology called ODSA (Obfuscation Data Security Algorithm) is designed to enhance the level of security. The ODSA is a symmetric encryption algorithm that uses a new Obfuscation method to generate the ciphertext. In this conversion process, it also uses a key of 256-bit to strengthen the ciphertext further. The Obfuscation method involves 7 different computational operations. The results are analyzed with an OPNET simulator tool by comparing with 4 standard algorithms and also with 2 recently developed obfuscation methods on 5 different parameters. The results show the highest value to the ODSA technique on five different file sizes and for all the parameters considered. In this proposed ODSA algorithm, the Brute Force attack and Dictionary attack have been used to analyze the ciphertext.
