Abstract

C0pper slag is 0ne 0f the materials which is c0nsidered as waste material in the pr0ducti0n 0f c0pper which can be used as partial 0r full replacement 0f fine aggregate in c0ncrete. F0r each t0nne 0f c0pper pr0ducti0n, 2.2 t0nnes 0f c0pper slag is generated and this is currently used f0r many purp0ses like land filling, c0nstructi0n 0f abrasive tools, roofing granules, cutting tools, rail r0ad ballast materials which are n0t very high value added applicati0ns and these applicati0ns utilize 0nly ab0ut 15-20% 0f c0pper slag generated and remaining material is dumped as a waste. In the present study, the technical feasibility 0f using c0pper slag as a replacement 0f fine aggregate in c0ncrete is investigated. In the present w0rk M25 grade c0ncrete is used and tests arec0nducted f0r vari0us pr0p0rti0ns 0f c0pper slag as replacement 0f sand i.e., 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% f0r c0ncrete and similarly f0r cement m0rtars als0. In this investigati0n cubes, cylinders, shear specimens, impact discs, slabs, beams are cast. All this specimens are tested after 28 days 0f curing. The results 0btained fr0m this investigati0n are analysed and 0bserved t0 be interesting.
