Earthquake Analysis of Multistory Building

Abstract

Earthquake analysis of any structure deals with the calculation of reaction or of outcome after been subjected to earthquake or seismic loadings. For seismic analysis of any structure, various data are required to be carried out. Earthquakes in a different part of the world demonstrated the vulnerability of deficient structures which may represent a seismic risk to the occupants living in high earthquake-prone areas. To ensure safety in the earthquake-prone areas of structures, there is the need to study the seismic analysis and design for earthquake resistance structures. Our project “Comparative Earthquake analysis of G+15 Building by using Multiple Softwares” is to attempt the analysis of a residential building using software such as STAAD-Pro and ETABS. STAAD-pro and ETABS are the most widely used structural analysis and design software products worldwide which are the faster method of designing the structure and are easy to learn. Our main objective is to study the behaviour and compare the analysis result of the building in different zones of India using STAAD-pro and ETABS. Also, to study the seismic analysis techniques like equivalent static analysis and response spectrum analysis.
