Solving the Issue of Ventilating Atmosphere of Opencast Mining by Resloping Bench Face
Abstract
The proposed paper addresses the issue of improving the atmosphere of a quarry space. The main sources of pollution, as well as numerical values achieved by dust content, are presented. To solve this issue, a task with a specific set of requirements, e.g. cost, high technology and maximum efficiency, was set. Based on this, an analysis of existing drilling methods was made and resloping method was chosen. After field studies at a real mining enterprise, the data obtained with the help of Ansys, Gambit and SolidWorks software packages were used to build the model. The results of modeling confirmed that the resloping method is most suitable for use, and the data are confirmed by mathematical calculations and modeling. Using a mathematical model, one may say that resloping bench face results in increased wind flow, which in turn will affect ventilation, and therefore, losses from downtime will be reduced.
