Abstract

Traffic congestion occurs when the volume of traffic on a particular road is greater than the size or space of  the available  road . Any disruption or interruption in transport flow, network, or infrastructure can lead to congestion.  In this research, we modeled the vehicular traffic flow using queuing theory in order to reduce the delays on roads in a growing urban center in Nigeria. We sought for how vehicular traffic could be optimized (by minimizing the congestion and maximizing the service elements) at this intersection. However, the results showed that traffic intensity (ρ) is less than one for all sections and this indicates perfect and smooth traffic system.
