Abstract

One of the new digital technologies for sharing information in a distributed manner is cloud computing technology. Virtualization concept is used for better accessing information in the form of cloud services from the technology. Virtual machines (VMs) are created with cloud virtualization. In green data centers, the energy efficiency levels of VMs are kept proficient with the help of realization of an effective consolidation policy for VMs among the hosts. The conventional energy efficient scheduling and resource utilization based techniques used for cloud environments are slow to convergence. Sometimes workloads are imbalanced in additional number of VMs. To overcome these issues, a significant energy efficient scheduling technique is proposed: Improved Gravitational Search Algorithm (IGSA). This technique facilitates energy-aware scheduling decisions for efficiently managing the cloud resources. IGSA results showed the significant improvement for energy consumption in VM allocation, improvement in Service Level Agreement (SLA) parameter and reducing unnecessary migrations of virtual machines in scheduling.
