Abstract

The work has by objective to present a bibliographic review on the current status of the use of wood sawdust for the production of coal in Latin America through an accessible search tool, in order to find trends and gaps that allow incentives for use for energy purposes of this biomass. An exploratory and descriptive research was carried out in the last 10 years, using the desk research methodology, based on the review of a set of previous studies, using the phrase “Wood sawdust in the production of coal as search criteria. " The 40 most referenced papers on the subject were selected, with which the review was carried out. Finally, it is shown that in the Latin American Area there is a tendency to take advantage of wood sawdust (directly) through gasification and by briquettes. Studies on its use through pyrolysis require research that provides information about: benefit / cost, equipment designs and production indicators.
