Dakin-West reaction for Synthesis of β-Acetamido Ketones Catalyzed by red mud - Green approach

Abstract

This is a simple condensation reaction of aromatic aldehyde, acetyl chloride with certain ketone having the alpha hydrogen. This reaction was carried using the green approach. The red mud used as catalyst for the reaction this is cheap catalyst easily occur. This reaction carried under the sonication approach, the synthesis of β-Acetamido Ketones. This is simple reaction condition, short reaction time; it gives excellent yield. No toxic products formed. Product formed with high purity. This approach can be used for synthesis of various pharmaceutical products.
