Abstract

Increasing demand of soil modification and faster construction leads to the frequent use of driven piles. Along with the advantages, driving of piles has its own limitations such as the bending of piles during the driving process. Following work is an attempt to work out the changes that occur in the load carrying capacity of a driven pile in compression using experimental setup. It is always better to understand the uncertainties beforehand, for the same, experiments were conducted to find out the behavior under different conditions such as angle of bend, embedment depth to diameter ratio, spacing of piles in a group and different pile group configurations.
