Abstract

The problem of Cholelithiasis is the most common biliary disease of the gall bladder. In this paper image processing technique is used for diagnosing the pathogenesis for the identification of early abnormality in gall bladder of the affected patients.  The pathogenesis in gall bladder is observed by the wall thickening of the gall bladder. This thickening of wall is either based on the stone formation due to deposition of solid, liquid or semi solid content or due to the inflammation around the wall. The normal thickness of the gall bladder wall is 3mm.If there is an abnormality in gall bladder the thickness of the wall may vary. For this purpose the gall bladder wall is to be considered as Region of Interest to analyze the wall thickening. The input image is filtered using order static filtering method to remove blurring effect and speckle noise. The filtered image is binned to focus on the ROI. Then the ROI of the image is extracted based on threshold for binary image. Through the concept of Euclidean distance the thickness of the image is found. Depending on the thickness of the wall, the image is classified either acute or chronic cholecystitis.
