Abstract

Learning the core subject is very important for a student in meeting the outcomes of the program and also in his/her career development. The purpose of this paper is predicting the final grade of students’ studying in a private university, Amaravathi in a core subject. By predicting the performance of student,it is possible to guide the students in those subjects by putting extra efforts. In this paper I used pruned J48 classifier model for predicting the final grade of students. For collecting data, I considered a private university offering B. Tech programs for plus 2 students in Amaravathi. This prediction is compared with the actual grade values of the students. The result shows that pruned J48 classifier does the prediction with accuracy 94.4444 %.
