Abstract

Two novel radar signals are designed using polynomial based non-linear frequency modulation and analyzed with reference to peak side-lobe level. To obtain overall performance over other NLFM methods, the performance of designed waveforms against Doppler Effect and background noise is investigated. Matlab software is used to carry out simulations. The lowest peak side lobe levels achieved by the designed waveforms are about -40.59 dB and -54.46 dB respectively. Additive white Gaussian Noise effected the peak side lobe levels and like any other NLFM waveforms the designed waveforms exhibited Doppler intolerance. The main advantage of this design is reduction in side lobe levels without main lobe broadening.
