Simulation Framework for Electric Bike Operating in Pedal Assist Mode Using Co-Simulation Approach.
Abstract
Electric bikes are less expensive, energy efficient, and emission-free transportation which also improve public health and mitigate environmental damage. Electrified ultra-light bikes have demonstrated to be a main component for future sustainable public transport creating alternatives that reduce emissions and congestion. Today there is a need for a simulation platform capable of testing different systems. This paper presents a simulation framework for electric bike operating in pedal assist mode. Real time simulation was carried out using OpenModelica connection editor which includes major factor affecting the existing sub system which allows user to monitor and change parameters through a GUI created using Python. The Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU) of the simulation model is created which enables the simulation model to run in other simulation tools like Matlab/Simulink.
