Reduction Of Floods Caused By Rain Using Infiltration Wells And Rain Reservoirs In Padang City
Abstract
Many area in Padang City has experienced the changing of land use from agriculture into an area for offices and settlements. This paper aims to evaluate the existing drainage performance and to identify the capability of the area to absorb rain. The objectives were achieved by analyzing archival records, field observations, and conducting soil tests. It was found that many office buildings do not have infiltration wells, water retention ponds, and many parking lots do not function properly to absorb rainwater. In order to mitigate the flood, 241 infiltration wells need to be installed along Khatib Sulaiman road. This research is expected to be used as a reference by the government of Padang City.
