Abstract

Urbanization and industrialization has led to the rapid growth of towns and villages into sprawling cities incorporated with all the modern facilities, park, commercial buildings and most importantly residential skyscrapers. These building accommodate lakhs of people and ensure housing facilities for everyone. Do these facilities and infrastructures cater to all the needs of the general public? This question poses a significant threat, when spotlighted on a different perspective. The tall buildings lack the basic need – sunlight. Sunlight provides us with ambient indoor temperature, leading to ‘thermal comfort’. But in case of tall building, to accommodate huge numbers, this is easily sacrificed, leading to improper lightning conditions which result in what is commonly called as ‘depression’, research say. So, when faced with such a huge problem, this paper aims at attempting to rectify this man – made mistake by using software that measures the thermal comfort of a building, thereby providing a suitable remedy.
