Symmetrical Y-shaped Slots on Hexagonal Patch Antenna with Asymmetric CPW-FED for WBAN Applications

Abstract

     A symmetrical y-shaped hexagon patch antenna is presented in this paper the asymmetric co-planar waveguide fed is considered as the ground plane for the antenna. The simulation is carried out by implanting the antenna in free space and inside the human body tissues. The antenna resonates at 2.6GHz frequency with return loss of -23.1dB when the antenna implanted inside the muscle tissue. An impedance bandwidth of 12.5% (3GHz to 3.4GHz), 42.3% (2.1GHz to 3.2GHz) and 42.1% (1.4GHz to 2.3GHz) are observed for the antenna implanted in free space, inside the muscle tissue and on the bone tissue of human body. The SAR, gain of antenna in free space inside the muscle tissue and on the bone tissue is presented in this paper. The radiation pattern of antenna in free space is also presented.
