Abstract

The most important aspects for body centric communication is that the improvement of the textile antenna for on-body communication.  This work will be use a light-weight and simple structure of patch antenna using textile substrate.  Pure Copper is to be used as a conductive material on Jeans cotton substrate, in comparison with microstrip patch antenna. The prototype to be designed will be used for Body-Centric Wireless Communications (BCWC) operating in the 2.45-4 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band. This ISM band is applicable for patient monitoring and diagnosis report sharing communication in hospitals.  A parametric study is going to be carried out in order to investigate the antenna basic characteristics, thereby enhancing the antenna performance.  The results should have return loss of -10dB and wide bandwidth against the conventional monopole antenna.  The wearable textile antenna is expected to produce about 4 dB higher in reflection coefficient than the conventional monopole antenna. Besides, a satisfactory gain characteristic might be obtained by wearable textile monopole comparable to the conventional monopole antenna.
