An ABAC Engine (ABAC-SGC): Attribute based Access Control Model for Smart Grid Cloud
Abstract
In recent times, Attribute Base Access Control become successful in attracting attention of many researchers due to its consideration of attributes of participating entities for making authorization decisions. The electric grid becomes smarter by applying intelligent communication and transmission infrastructure to meet the challenges of energy domain. The smart grid envisioned towards enhancing the power sectors reliability, availability safety, and effectiveness through bi-directional communication of data usage, runtime optimization of functioning modules, way of energy preservation and effective planning. Cloud computing evolved a lot in recent times and provides a new approach to fulfills the computing needs as on demand basis for storage, processing power and software solutions etc. The approach of getting benefitted through cloud looks more appropriate for domains where it’s challenging to migrate or replace legacy systems to a solution with all new setup. In this paper we are proposing enforcement architecture based on ABAC for cloud computing while considering its applicability towards smart grid. With the proposed approach, access decisions will be taken based on dynamically collected attributes and various access policies attached with participant entities of access requests.
