Local content deliver in terrestrial digital TV SFN Environment Using Three-layer LDM

Abstract

Today the use of portable devices has increased exponentially; it is really a big challenge to the broadcaster to provide best quality video with high speed and security. At the same time the broadcaster shows interest to provide local services in Digital terrestrial transmitter (DTT) with single frequency networks (SFNs), which can improve business cases. The Layered-Division-Multiplexing (LDM) technology in ATSC 3.0 provides a solution to insert local services such as targeted advertisements, local news and location based services from any transmitter, at any time and with flexible coverage. In this research work, layered division multiplexing (LDM) with three layers considered as a flexible and efficient solution for the improvement of performance of ATSC 3.0 broadcasting services.
