Optimal Location Identification for DG through Fuzzy Approach

Abstract

The continuous increase on the penetration levels of demand in power systems has led to radical changes on the design, operation, and control of the electrical network. To meet the demand Renewable Energy Sources based Distributed Generators (DG) are located in existing distribution system. To identify the optimal location to place the DG a set of indices are proposed in this paper. This paper investigates the influence of demand changes on the operation of a transmission network by developing a set of indices .To analyze the impact of increased demand three individual index such as Active power loss index, Reactive power loss index and Voltage profile index is calculated. Fuzzy approach is used to take the decision that whether the DG should be installed or not. To show the effectiveness of proposed index IEEE 30 Bus System is used.
