Improving the Performance of the Micro-Grid using Zoning Algorithm
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a method for improving the performance of Micro-Grid by improving the power quality and stability indices of buses. Micro-Grid zoning algorithm is applied to improve power quality and voltage stability in connected mode of operation. The proposed zoning algorithm follows the priority of distributed generation sources to supply system loads for the three objectives of reducing losses, maintaining voltage across standard power quality ranges, and reducing power exchanged with the main grid. Simulation results from the proposed zoning algorithm in a five-zone variable-load micro-grid are compared with other methods. Simulations results show that evaluation and redesigning based on zoning algorithm improves the stability and power quality of micro-grid.
