Abstract

This manuscript considers elements, characteristics and aspects for the selection of the appropriate aeration technology for the reduction of Fe+2 y Mn+2, integrated into water treatment systems in tropical countries, where the vast majority of these, are countries in development, with scarce economic resources for investment. Given the above, the maximum flow criteria per oxidation area, contact time for oxidation, water velocity and air supply to the system within the device, occupied area by the unit, investment costs, operation and maintenance, are some explicit indicators in the choice of the appropriate technology, to guarantee the reliability, complexity and flexibility of the most convenient aerator in the water treatment system, which adapts to climatic variability in tropical countries.
