The Use of Internet Based Learning in Linguistics Class

Abstract

The use of internet in education sector has made many changes such as presentation of materials, students’ motivation and teachers and learners interaction. This survey method was designed to seek the increase of students’ scores in the Linguistics Class for the third semester of English Department of Universitas Asahan (UNA) of North Sumatra, Indonesia. It compared the results of students’ learning process in 6 sessions in Linguistics Class with two Subtopics; rhetoric and figures of speech. The data obtained showed that the students’ scores were increased from 60 -70 in the Linguistics subtopics during the implementation of internet based learning process; it revealed that the achievement cognitively got rising, the subjects also  feel more relaxed and got enjoyment with the Internet Based Teaching Learning Technique. It concluded that the use of Internet in learning two subtopics of Linguistics Class increased with new technology as medium.
