Abstract

In recent days digitization of medical records plays a vital role in healthcare industry from paper based to Electronic Medical Record (EMR). In addition to this another technology adopted by healthcare industry is remote patient monitoring system which examines patients at their home. Even through the advancements in the healthcare industry lead to better patient care, it suffers from security issues of patient’s personal medical records which is being transferred. In order to overcome this a new RTL (RSA, Transposition and LSB technique) system has been proposed that uses Cryptography and Steganography. In existing methods, one layer of cryptography is being used e.g. AES encryption, whereas the proposed system uses two layers of cryptography i.e RSA and transposition cipher. The medical record to be secured is first encrypted by transposition cipher algorithm using the key transferred by RSA algorithm. Also, by using Least Significant Bit technique encrypted record is entrenched into the cover picture, which prevents the possibility of hacking the record. Further, in this paper the above conferred system is implemented and the comparison of RTL method and AES encryption with LSB steganography are being discussed. Results shows that, the proposed system is efficient than AES with LSB method in terms of Mean Square Error (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR).
