Lead-Lag Relationship between NSE and Selected International Stock Exchanges

Abstract

India has grown leaps and bounds after adopting progressive policies since 1991(LPG policy). India is one of the top most investment destination in the world. The researchers aim to study the importance and impact of NSE over international stock exchanges. For this purpose, they have selected DAX (Europe), FTSE (UK), Nikkei (Japan), SSE (China) and S&P (USA) stock exchanges and incorporated the data to understand the nature of relationship that exists between NSE and selected international stock exchanges.Study used Augmented Dickey-Fuller Test, Johansen Co-integration & Pairwise Granger Causality Tests to analyse data.It is found that except for China, Indian stock market has a certain degree of influence over Japan, UK, Europe and USA stock markets
