Change Management of Education Institutional in the Digital Era

Abstract

The existence of educational institutions, ranging from basic education to higher education, has a very important role as a starting point of change and transformation towards better development in a country, especially in the digital era. Current phenomena indicate the need for transformation and change in educational institutions in the digital era. The aim of this study is to provide insight into the construct of change management of educational institutions in the digital era and to discuss possible approaches to its assessment with particular emphasis on the quantitative and qualitative perspectives. The present study focuses on the determinants of change management which include the causes of change, resistance to change, and adaptation strategies to changes that occur in the digital era. The concept of change management in the digital era is understood in the setting of educational institutions is examined, with the focus on secondary and higher education. The trade-off between qualitative and quantitative approaches for analyzing change management, either in or between educations institutions is also discussed. The research design and data analysis were carried out in accordance with the needs of this study, through quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. To enrich the analysis, the quadrant model is developed as a synthesis or a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. The quadrant model plots the positions of each dimension in each quadrant related to the focus of the action or strategy being performed: sustained, adjusted, repaired, and improved. Thus, each educational institution may select and design the most suitable model of change management in the digital era for its own determination.
